Mineral sunscreens are those that use Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide as the active ingredients, as opposed to chemical active ingredients like Avobenzone, Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Homosalate, and others. Founder Andrea Wetsel discovered mineral sunscreen actives when one of her young daughters had a bad reaction to a chemical sunscreen active. Brush On Block only uses mineral sunscreen actives!
No! Brush On Block is certified Vegan and compliant with PETA's Global Animal Test Policy. That means that we don't test our finished product on animals, but also that none of our raw ingredient suppliers use animal testing. We are proudly cruelty-free!
Yes! None of our products contain any animal-derived ingredients, and we are certified vegan by Peta.
All sunscreens need to be reapplied every 2 hours when you are outdoors or exposed to UV rays. If you are in and out of water, refer to the individual product FAQs or box for reapplication times.
Since mineral sunscreens like Brush On Block products are not absorbed into the skin and stay on the skin's surface, they are less likely to cause skin irritation or breakouts. In most cases, irritation is caused by chemical sunscreen actives, which must be absorbed into the skin to be effective.
Yes! Some of our products are designed for children, but all of our products can be safely applied to children aged six months or older. No sunscreen should be applied to children younger than six months without first speaking with a doctor.
Brush On Block products were primarily designed to provide quick and easy sun protection for the face, neck, arms and hands, but they can it be used on all body parts that are exposed to the sun or that require fast and easy sun protection.
