Introducing BOB Kids Mineral Sun Balm SPF 40
It's been a long time coming, and we've been nearly bursting at the seams to tell you – now we can! Our newest product, BOB Kids Sun Balm SPF 40 has arrived!
You might wonder why we need a new product made especially with children in mind. After all, we have BOB Kids Brush On Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30, that has been wildly popular. It covers so many bases, easy to use, easy to keep handy at all times, UVA and UVB protection, water resistant, kids don't hate wearing it ... what more could you ask for? Well, we thought of a couple of things:
First, would it be nice to have a slightly higher SPF for sensitive young skin? Our new Sun Balm is still water resistant for 80 minutes, and gives excellent UVA and UVB protection, but the SPF is a bit higher than our powder, at SPF 40.
Second, what if we could make something that goes on easy and warm, just like a parent's touch, but was really easy to see how much you are putting on to the areas that get the most sun? Sun Balm warms to the touch, and you can apply it thickly to the tops of those chubby cheeks, the back of the neck, top of the ears, backs of the hands and tops of the feet ... you get the picture. These are the places that seem to turn pink before any other place, and we wanted to give them some extra protection. Unscrew the lid of our new Sun Balm, run your fingers over the surface to warm the product, then dip out a bit and apply thickly. Best of all, Sun Balm can go over or under our BOB Kids Brush On Mineral Sunscreen, so you are absolutely certain that soft skin is protected.
What Makes It Great?
There is so much to love about our new Sun Balm. Let's start with the basics:
Moisturizing
Made with a rich combination of oils and butters, this formula not only brings moisture to the skin, but also helps keep existing moisture inside. No one likes to see baby cheeks rough, dry and red!
Soothing/Calming
We have included botanicals and minerals that help soothe and calm the skin, so that exposure to sun, wind, cold and water don't take a toll on young ones.
Non-Nano Zinc Oxide
The only active sunscreen ingredient in this lovely balm is non-nano-sized zinc oxide, which is one of only two sunscreen actives that the FDA deems "GRASE" (Generally Recognized As Safe and Effective).
Positive Reef Initiative
We purchased the zinc for this formula from a company that has a created the Positive Reef Initiative. In their words, "Our aim is to allow for the creation of reef friendly sun care products while at the same time having a positive contribution to stop coral reef damage and promote its restoration. Offering coral reef safe ingredients is not enough to help with the current problems coral reefs are facing. Therefore, we have put forth a set of commitments to having a positive impact on protecting and restoring coral reefs." This initiative is something we can get behind because they not only aim to not cause more reef damage, but have gone the extra step in helping with reef restoration. Additionally, they aim to educate consumers so that they can make choices that not only help protect our ocean's reefs, but also keep themselves safe from sun damage and sun cancer. Not For Children Only!
After developing BOB Kids Sun Balm, it became clear to us. .. we'd all wear this sunscreen! Because of the thick, moisturizing texture, it is especially great for adults who participate in winter snow sports and water sports. You don't have to wonder if that redness on your cheeks after a day on the slopes is sun burn or wind burn, with Sun Balm, it won't be either. Your skin will remain hydrated and protected.
